A sparkling Starry Night: wrapping up our virtual carol concert

Tuesday 8 December saw Action for Children’s first ever Starry Night carol concert. An amazing 882 households across the UK (and beyond!) joined us for a virtual evening of festive fun and sparkling entertainment.

Hosted by Channel 4 News’ Jon Snow, guests were treated to beautifully sung carols performed by the Epiphoni Consort, the nation’s favourite Christmas stories read by TV’s Angellica Bell and Nadia Sawalha, an exclusive comedy performance from Jess Hynes and special appearances from singer Leona Lewis and Call the Midwife’s Jenny Agutter OBE. If that wasn’t enough, guests also enjoyed a virtual performance from schools across Liverpool as well as the UK premiere of Liam Gallagher’s new music video ‘All You’re Dreaming Of’.

We’re thrilled to announce that over £31,000 was raised, to support the vital work that Action for Children does across the UK. Before coronavirus hit more than 4 million children in the UK were locked in poverty. Families are growing ever more desperate and parents who’ve never needed help are now struggling. More families are having to choose between paying their bills or feeding their children. Thousands of children and young people face a Christmas without a hot meal, a present or a safe place to sleep. But with your help, we can change this.

Thank you to everyone who supported this fantastically festive event, and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
